Brightness keys no longerwork after screen replacement (to CMN14D2) on t450s

I recently decided to upgrade my default screen in my T450s to a newer 1920x1080 ISP screen that I found on Amazon. The old one was getting scratched by the keyboard because I keep the laptop in my backpack during school. I had been doing some research and apparently a lot of 14" screens out on the market have a white listed EDID with Lenovo, and thus aren't compatible with the brightness funcion keys (I think I understood that correctly, I'm no tech genius). Is there any way to make the brightness keys work with the new screen, or should I return it and buy a different screen with a Lenovo friendly EDID. Please help, I've spent way to long trying to fix this issue. 

I have...

- (re)Installed many different video drivers from intel and lenovo.

- Tried editing the EDID of the new screen to match the EDID of the old screen.
